Unterföhring, 2 February 2017 – ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE has signed a long-term agreement with Vodafone for the distribution of its free, paid, HD, and video-on-demand content. Starting at the end of February, Vodafone customers will be able to directly order and use maxdome via Vodafone’s new GigaTV entertainment platform. With this agreement, maxdome will be distributed via all major cable providers. More HD coverage: For the first time, Vodafone viewers with a cable TV or IPTV connection will be able to receive SAT.1 GOLD and ProSieben MAXX, two free TV stations from the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, in HD quality. The pay TV stations SAT.1 emotions and kabel eins CLASSICS will also be available in high resolution in the HD Premium Plus package from Vodafone. ProSieben FUN HD, the third pay TV station from ProSiebenSat.1, is a new addition to the HD Premium package.
The range of programs will be rounded off with the youngest child of the media group: kabel eins Doku has been available on Vodafone since the end of 2016. The new agreement will establish numerous technical services that will make it even easier to access ProSiebenSat.1 content in the future: The agreement includes catch-up content and the mobile distribution of ten free and pay TV stations from ProSiebenSat.1. Effective immediately, many formats will be available for streaming on the GigaTV platform following their television broadcast. The Instant Restart feature allows to replay live programs with a time-shift from the beginning. A network-based personal video recorder (NPVR) will enable viewers to record several television shows at the same time. “Vodafone is a very attractive partner. In addition to the nearly eight million cable TV and IPTV Vodafone households, with the new agreement we will expand our potential reach by more than 30 million mobile and DSL customers,” says Christof Wahl, Executive Board Member for Digital Entertainment and COO of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. Regarding the reasons for the closer cooperation, Wahl says: “We offer Vodafone customers the greatest possible convenience: Via our ten free and pay TV stations, media libraries, and maxdome, they will receive high-quality programs, time-shifted television viewing, and a wide variety of entertainment options from a single source.” Vodafone’s Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Manuel Cubero adds: “Thanks to the new agreement with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, we can offer our customers an even bigger selection of TV programs and entertainment content. Vodafone’s new GigaTV platform gives customers personal recommendations for relevant content, which customers can access quickly and easily at home as well as on the go via smartphones and tablets.”
