ProSiebenSat.1 creates glomex, a global content marketplace / Kick-off at dmexco
Munich, September 12th, 2016. The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has established “glomex – The Global Media Exchange”, a unique platform for trading premium video content. Before the official kick-off at dmexco, collaborations with over 20 companies have already been secured. Among those, leading German providers of premium video content such as BILD and Deutsche Telekom. From the international video business, NetInfo and Nova (Bulgaria) as well as Phaistos Networks (Greece) are participating. Further national and international partners will follow this year. Managing directors of glomex are Michael Jaschke (CEO) and Arnd Mückenberger (CFO), who will both also remain managing directors of the sister company, ProSiebenSat.1 Digital. Kick-off at dmexco: in the course of dmexco, the leading digital trade show, glomex inaugurates its open and global online marketplace for video content. It aims at creating a powerful platform for syndicating professional video content. “With glomex, we are building a network of networks, enabling frictionless distribution and monetization of videos – for major publishers as well as for small, highly specialized apps”, says Michael Jaschke, adding: “we are working 24/7 on establishing a marketplace that will put all market participants in a position to cost-efficiently include videos into their websites and apps as major revenue drivers.” glomex provides the technical infrastructure by means of a cloud-based transactional platform. In this “Media Exchange Service” to be launched as a beta version at dmexco, content owners offer verified and brand-safe videos which publishers can embed into their websites and apps. Delivery and distribution of these videos is carried out by the glomex video delivery infrastructure. The new company, based in Unterföhring near Munich, is a technical service provider and offers all solutions associated with the publication of video content; from a video file’s ingest, storage, transcoding and delivery, to its monetization and analysis. The benefits for all those involved lie in a significant increase in reach and hence the unlocking of new revenue streams, whilst at the same time reducing operating costs. Additionally, participants profit from easy access to technical innovation. The foundation for glomex was laid within ProSiebenSat.1 Digital, the group’s multimedia company. Currently, glomex has 85 employees – mostly at the Unterföhring headquarters. Furthermore, glomex operates a development center in Kiev and a sales base in Italy.
