ProSiebenSat.1 Signs Long-Term Distribution Agreement with Kabel Deutschland
Munich, July 1, 2011. The ProSiebenSat.1 Group
and cable TV provider Kabel Deutschland (KD) have signed a
long-term contract for the distribution of the Group's free and pay
TV, HD and video-on-demand content. Beginning in October 2011,
viewers with a Kabel Deutschland connection will also be able to
receive the ProSiebenSat.1 Group's HD stations for the first time.
High-definition transmission makes TV images significantly more
detailed than before.
ProSiebenSat.1 will also be distributing an extensive
video-on-demand portfolio via KD. The Group will thus be offering
viewers another way to download video content, above and beyond the
current portals. KD's "SELECT VIDEO" video-on-demand service
was launched this March, and is already technically available to
2.3 million households using KD.
The agreement also provides for long-term distribution of the
Group's free TV channels and its two pay TV services, "Sat.1
Comedy" and "kabel eins CLASSICS." Women's station "sixx" will also
be available over KD's analog network, expanding sixx's technical
reach from the former 20 million households to more than 25
million. This, the TV group's youngest station, went on the air in
May 2010, and by now is earning an average share of 0.4 percent of
the key demographic.
