For us, success also means consistently developing and improving the Group’s sustainability performance and non-financial performance indicators, and aligning the interests of our target groups – particularly our employees, shareholders, viewers, users and business customers. In this context, the Group defines sustainable business conduct as an integrated approach for ensuring our Group’s economic, environmental and social performance. As a company, we want to operate in an inclusive, sustainable, environmentally and socially responsible manner; as a media company, we want to present and promote a cosmopolitan and democratic society.
Since January 2020, ProSiebenSat.1 has also been a signatory to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and is thus explicitly committed to its ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environment and climate as well as corruption prevention. The United Nations Global Compact is the world’s biggest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance. Based on ten universal principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it pursues the vision of an inclusive and sustainable global economy. By joining the Global Compact, ProSiebenSat.1 – alongside over 13,000 other companies and organizations from civil society, politics, and academia in more than 160 countries – demonstrates that we are willing to help shaping this vision and strengthening our commitment to sustainability. We intend to report on the progress in the implementation of the principles and activities to promote sustainable development annually (Communication on Progress, COP).
Executive-level responsibility for non-financial aspects, sustainability performance indicators, and ESG (environment, social, governance) information at ProSiebenSat.1 Group mainly lies with the member of the Executive Board who is responsible for HR, compliance, and sustainability. Within the sustainability organization, the Sustainability Committee represents a centralized and interdisciplinary body for managing, monitoring, and developing the sustainability strategy. It is made up of managers and specialists from relevant central functions and operating corporate divisions as well as a works council representative. The Corporate Sustainability Office is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and communication of sustainability activities as well as the stakeholder dialog.
Since 2011, the Group has also placed its public value activities in a larger social context and has underscored their relevance for the Group by establishing an Advisory Board. The interdisciplinary body advises the ProSiebenSat.1 Group on social, ethical and media policy issues and provides impetus on important topics such as education and culture. For the last European elections, for example, it initiated the activation campaign "Go vote!" with prominent faces and influencers of ProSiebenSat.1. In addition to Bavaria’s former minister president Dr. Edmund Stoiber (chair), the board members include Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann, President Emeritus of the Technical University of Munich, Dr. Heike Kahl, Managing Director of the German Children and Youth Foundation, Prof. Bodo Hombach, President of the Bonn Academy for Research and Teaching of Practical Politics, and Maximilian Schöberl, Head of Corporate Communications and Politics and Chief Representative of the BMW Group. Linda Teuteberg, a member of the German Bundestag, has been a member of the committee since February 2022.
