Katharina Frömsdorf becomes CEO of Joyn

Unterföhring, October 19, 2023. As part of the strategic realignment of the Seven. One Entertainment Group, the streaming platform Joyn is at the center of the entertainment presence. In order to successfully develop Joyn further, Katharina Frömsdorf will become CEO of Joyn as of November 1, 2023. She will report directly to CEO Bert Habets. Alongside her, Nicole Agudo Berbel and Benjamin Risom also join the Joyn management team.

Bert Habets, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE: "As Managing Director of Seven. One AdFactory, Studio71, Buzzbird, MMP and as the person responsible for Seven. One Audio, Katharina Frömsdorf stands for strengthening synergies between divisions, successfully developing companies and, above all, creating a large whole from several divisions. This is exactly what we need for the full integration of Joyn into the Seven. One Entertainment Group. Benjamin Risom has been instrumental in the technical development of the platform as CPO of Seven. One Entertainment Group and in his previous roles at Joyn. Nicole Agudo Berbel, in her role as Chief Distribution Officer, will now additionally focus on strengthening Joyn’s distribution through partner agreements. With the appointment of these three to the Joyn management team, we will be able to even better combine our streaming platform with the power and advantages of our company. This is the right way to grow Joyn."

Katharina Frömsdorf, CEO of Joyn: "Joyn has all the ingredients to become the leading ad-supported streaming service in the German-speaking region. I look forward to working with the great Joyn team and the combined power of Seven. One Entertainment Group to take our streaming platform to the next level."

Katharina Frömsdorf will also take on the overarching role of Chief Platforms & Growth Officer of Seven. One Entertainment Group.

Tassilo Raesig, CEO of Joyn, and René Sahm, CFO and COO of Joyn, are leaving the company by mutual agreement due to differing views on the future direction of the platform.

"I would like to thank Tassilo Raesig and René Sahm for their great commitment in building and expanding Joyn as a platform in Germany over the past years, without which the successful launch of Joyn in Austria would not have been possible. Now we have to integrate Joyn even more strongly into our company and position it in the market as the streaming service for the whole family," Bert Habets continued.

Tassilo Raesig joined Joyn in 2017 as part of the founding team as COO, became a member of the management board in 2020 and has been CEO of Joyn since May 2021. He was most recently responsible for technology, product and marketing, and content. René Sahm joined the management team in May 2021 as CFO and COO, responsible for Finance & Analytics, HR, Legal, Distribution and Operations.

"We are proud to have built and shaped Joyn as an independent company over the last few years and to have developed Joyn into one of the leading streaming platforms in the German-speaking region together with our great and talented team. With the full and deep integration of Joyn into the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, a new chapter now begins. We wish the new management and their teams every success and all the best for the future," said Tassilo Raesig and René Sahm.

"When children do sports, they speak one language."
“UKIMWI” is spelled out in capital letters on the ground of the dusty sports field in Bukoba, Tanzania. Ukimwi is Swahili, and it means AIDS. The children from the elementary school put the word together using lots of little wooden sticks.

Weather targeting makes TV-advertising even more relevant
Seven. One Media and wetter.com are working together on a targeting option: on TV, precisely those products are advertised that match the weather situation. This opens up additional revenue potential in the advertising market.
