Market shares in July: Strong gains for the ProSiebenSat.1 family of TV stations in Germany
Unterföhring, August 1, 2010. The ProSiebenSat.1 Groups family of German TV stations captured a total market share of 27.8 percent in July 2010 (+2.7 percentage points over June 2010, excluding N24). SAT.1s market share in July was 10.3 percent and ProSiebens was 10.8 percent. With a market share of 6.7 percent, kabel eins had its best July performance since going on the air.
Thus, ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland GmbH stayed ahead of the RTL Deutschland media group (RTL, Vox, Super RTL, n-tv), which had a market share of 27.2 percent in July (+0.9 percentage points over June 2010).
Highlights of the TV Group in July:
SAT.1s German TV series continue to be successful: Danni Lowinski garnered market shares of up to 16.8 percent and Der letzte Bulle reached a new high market share of 15.7 percent. The Friday family show is back! Following on the success of Die perfekte Minute, Mein Mann kann attracted a market share of up to 16.3 percent. The new TV series weekend with the spin-off Navy CIS: L.A. (Saturdays) brought SAT.1 a market share of up to 16.2 percent and the new sit-com Cougar Town (Sundays) was also a big hit with viewers, capturing a 13.7 percent market share.
Comedy is alive and well on ProSieben: Switch reloaded achieved a market share of up to 18.1 percent. The new ProSieben Saturday shows also got off to a very successful start: Elton vs. Simon Die Show garnered a market share of up to 18.8 percent and Solitary Besieg dich selbst! a market share of up to 14.4 percent. The TV series Two and a Half Men achieved a peak market share of 20 percent.
kabel eins scored big with knowledge shows, docutainment and the best movies of all time. Abenteuer Leben täglich Wissen reached a market share of 12.6 percent, its highest yet. Die strengsten Eltern der Welt achieved a market share of 8.1 percent, also its highest ever, and the U.S. movie Top Gun attracted a market share of 9.7 percent in prime time, the highest value to date this year.
