maxdome coming to ICE high-speed trains: The Video-on-Demand provider teams up with Deutsche Bahn

Munich/ Berlin, June 21, 2016: maxdome GmbH and Deutsche Bahn (DB), the German railway operator, have locked down a long-term, strategic partnership. By the end of 2016, ICE high speed trains will exclusively offer maxdome’s video services through the ICE portal as the first and only video entertainment provider for the roughly 80 million passengers who travel on an ICE train every year. Beloved movies and series will be available directly on the train without requiring an internet connection thanks to Wi-Fi provided by the DB portal. “The ICE portal will be strengthened by the addition of maxdome’s unique entertainment services by the end of 2016,” explains Michael Peterson, Management Board Member of DB Fernverkehr. “Travelling with ICE trains will be much more enjoyable for our customers thanks to this video service,” Peterson remarked cheerfully. “Offering maxdome on the trains provides passengers with a significant added value. Customers will be able to enjoy films and series without having to download them beforehand, without using mobile data, and without having the stream cut out while going through a tunnel. It doesn’t get more convenient than that,” explains Marvin Lange, Managing Director maxdome. “Through our cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, we can continue to expand our distribution efforts and clearly set ourselves apart from the competition,” added Co-Managing Director Filmon Zerai. The service allows passengers to use their laptops or mobile devices to watch selected content while travelling, even if they do not currently have a maxdome subscription. Each customer will be able to access a collection of 50 regularly rotating films and series for free. Even some of America’s most beloved content will be in the mix. To access more than 1,000 highlight titles, customers need either an existing maxdome subscription or they must upgrade from their free trial-period, which can be done on the train with just a few clicks. About maxdome: With over 50,000 movies, series, and children’s programs for the entire family, maxdome is the biggest online video library in Germany. The unique entertainment guide’s specific recommendations make finding the perfect film easy. All titles are available at any time on TVs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and gaming consoles. Most titles can also be watched offline on mobile devices. After the one-month free trial, maxdome packages are available at the monthly flat-rate of EUR 7.99 and can be cancelled at any time. maxdome is a ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE company.
