MIPTV 2010: SevenOne International to Present a Diverse Line-up of New Fiction Programs, Magazines and Documentaries
Munich, March 29, 2010. With more than 40 new programs, SevenOne International will be presenting a diverse line-up at MIPTV in Cannes from April 12 to 16, 2010. Highlights include, among others, 24 movies such as the TV event thriller "The Frontier" and the romantic comedy "Lost in Africa", new TV series such as "Danni Lowinski" and groundbreaking TV magazines such as "Galileo Mystery".

TV Events: In the high-budgeted "The Frontier" (produced by teamWorx) terrorist attacks on all oil reserves intensify the global financial crises, causing a civil war scenario. The political thriller had German viewers glued to the screen. Up to 5.34 million viewers witnessed the action-loaded TV event on SAT.1, clearly winning prime time and starring Hollywood star Thomas Kretschmann. Fast-paced and stirring, "The Fugitives" (produced by teamWorx) recounts the fate of three best friends who find themselves on the run with the authorities in hot pursuit. The situation deteriorates when one of their fathers turns into their worst enemy. Combining perfect family entertainment with an animated, fairy-tale story, "The Secret of Loch Ness II" (produced by Rat Pack Filmproduktion) offers new adventures of Tim and his friend Oki, the 605-year-old druid. Spookily funny, the TV event "Spook Inn" (produced by Askania Media) centres on a family that purchases an old tavern. To the surprise of the new owners, the house is inhabited by a bunch of ghosts. A bizarre series of young suicides reveal a dark secret in "The Village" (produced by UFA Fernsehproduktion). The mystery movie offers chilling suspense as well as upcoming international top stars such as Eleanor Tomlinson ("Alice in Wonderland", "The Illusionist").
Movies: The crime movie "Deadly Campus" (produced by teamWorx) starring Alexandra Neldel and Clemens Schick follows the gripping investigation of a female lawyer who is dragged deeper and deeper into a brutal abuse case at an elite university. A wedding trip to Africa takes an unexpected turn for Lisa in "Lost in Africa" (produced by Action Concept), leading to an adventures journey through the remote African wilderness. Set against a majestic scenery, "Alpine Clinic V: Love Heals" (produced by Mona Film) unfolds a new turbulent episode of the mountain clinic team: a paragliders crash in the mountains leads to a series of dramatic events. In a new episode, "Dream Hotel: Chiang Mai" (produced by Lisa Film) takes its viewers on an exotic trip to Thailand, where hotel manager Markus is busy entangling the dramatic and amourous lives of his guests.
Series: Thoroughly funny und highly entertaining, "Danni Lowinski" (produced by Phoenix Film) depicts the tumultuous life of the unconventional lawyer and former hair dresser Danny, who decides to offer legal advice to the less fortunate. Slightly neurotic but absolutely likeable is "Floor Faber" (produced by Rinkel Film): A star author of a Dutch women magazine, the 27-year old leads a chaotic life, constantly juggling career, love and family life. Flashy and fast-paced, "Hidden Defects" (produced by NL Film & TV) presents five young and ambitious real-estate agents whose lives revolve around opportunities in business, romance and a mysterious murder.
Comedy series: Torn between a turbulent everyday life, a rocky love-affair, and kinky family feuds, "Pastewka" (produced by BRAINPOOL) has TV audiences and critics cheer with glee. Winner of a Rose dOr and numerous German TV prizes, the SAT.1 comedy series revolves around comedy heavyweight Bastian Pastewka, who finds himself stumbling from one hilarious scene into the next.
Telenovela: Following the current success of SAT.1s hit telenovela "Anna", "One in a Million" (produced by Grundy UFA) unfolds the story of cheeky and out-of-the-ordinary Manuela, who starts a job as a cleaning woman at the fancy Berlin Grand Hotel Eden. But the world of the rich is new to Manuela und abounds with sleazy characters and corrupt games. Will she stay down-to-earth and true to herself?
Magazine/Documentaries: Where did the legendary King Arthur come from? What was the real identity of the infamous Jack the Ripper? The prime time TV magazine "Galileo Mystery" (produced by ProSieben) sheds a unique light on unsolved phenomena, elevating the genre of sciencetainment to a brand new level. A landscape that once was virgin desert soil now boasts a Formula One racetrack, with "The Yas Hotel" (produced by ProSieben). Exclusively filmed on location in High Definition and using 3D-animated footage from its early stages as well as time-lapse photography, this TV special offers a unique insight into this massive construction project.
Upcoming Events: When blackness rules, chaos ensues: In the gripping TV thriller "Blackout" (produced by Constantin Television), a giant power failure plunges the city of Berlin into a deadly turmoil. Based on an international bestseller by Iny Lorentz, the TV event "The Whore" (produced by TV60 Filmproduktion) is set in the Middle Ages and tells the mesmerizing story of a young woman (Alexandra Neldel), who is accused of being a whore. Drama meets action: In "The Sleepers Wife" (produced by 20:15 Film und Fernsehproduktion), Katys world is turned upside down when she finds out that her husband Zaid is a sleeper. Taking matters into her own hands, she follows her family to Sudan. A dangerous showdown ensues
