MM MerchandisingMedia new licensing representative for Sesame Street, for Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Contract effective as of January 1, 2004

Munich, January 8, 2004. As of January 1, 2004, MM MerchandisingMedia GmbH, a ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG company, has signed to market the licensing rights for Sesame Street in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The new contract with Sesame Workshop, New York, covers development of marketing strategies for the German-speaking markets, and conception and marketing of innovative product ideas.

Sesame Workshop, the producers of Sesame Street, is a nonprofit educational organization making a meaningful difference in childrens lives around the world. Founded in 1968, the Workshop changed television forever with the legendary Sesame Street. Today, the Workshop continues to innovate on behalf of children in 120 countries, using its proprietary research methodology to ensure its programs and products are engaging and enriching. Sesame Workshop puts the proceeds it receives from sales of Sesame products back into its international children's educational projects.

By acquiring ancillary rights for Sesame Street, MM MerchandisingMedia has gained one of the most successful childrens programs worldwide. Sesame Street offers manifold possibilities of making products more attractive and enhancing them with an added value. We will position this topic together with existent and new partners, as stated by Bettina Köckler, Chairman of the board of MM MerchandisingMedia. The contract is an important step for us in further strengthening our position in the German-speaking license market.

Since the show first ran on Germanys public TV broadcasters in 1973, three generations have come to know and love Bert & Ernie, Cookie Monster, Tiffy, Count Von Count and others. The secret of Sesame Streets success is its special combination of entertainment and knowledge. The popular family program is shown in 120 countries worldwide. Its core target audience is children age three to six.

MM MerchandisingMedia GmbH is a ProSiebenSat.1 Group company. It covers the full value chain in merchandising from acquiring ancillary licensing rights to selling products and services to consumers and viewers. MM MerchandisingMedia not only markets the Groups own television and ancillary rights (Kommissar Rex, Star Search II, Pop Idol, Overground, Preluders), but also acts as an independent licensing and service agency (Pumuckl - Geschichten von Ellis Kaut, The Smurfs, Mr. Bean). The company, based in Munich, has a staff of about 100.

“UKIMWI” is spelled out in capital letters on the ground of the dusty sports field in Bukoba, Tanzania. Ukimwi is Swahili, and it means AIDS. The children from the elementary school put the word together using lots of little wooden sticks.
