ProSiebenSat.1 acquires the online video rental store maxdome outright

- Expansion of video-on-demand portal planned
- 1&1 Internet AG remains sales and service partner

The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has acquired full ownership of the video-on-demand portal maxdome. Previously, the shareholders ProSiebenSat.1 and 1&1 Internet AG each owned 50 percent of the shares. The takeover is subject to approval by the Federal Cartel Office in Germany. 1&1 Internet AG remains the sales and service partner.

maxdome was founded in July 2006 as a joint venture of ProSiebenSat.1 Group and 1&1 Internet AG. With 35,000 titles including movies, TV series, comedy, sport, music and cartoons, maxdome is now Germanys largest online video library and the market leader. The extensive range of films on offer can be viewed via PC or television. For older television sets, a set-top box is also required. Users of modern hybrid televisions with Internet access can access the maxdome video range directly without a set-top box. Selections can be viewed either via subscription to different packages, as a one-off streamed video using a pay-per-view option, or as a download. As with a rental DVD, rented videos can viewed any number of times within 48 hours. Some selections can also be purchased to keep permanently.

Christoph Bellmer, Head of New TV with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group: "Together with 1&1, we have built maxdome up into the market leader with the largest video-on-demand range in Germany. We will continually develop the range. I am very pleased that 1&1 will remain our very close partner." Contact person:
