ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion Sets Up European Playout Center in Munich

- Operations to start in Q1 2009

Munich, June 17, 2008. ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion, the ProSiebenSat.1 Groups technical service provider, has just begun setting up a digital playout center in Munich. The center will start operations at the Unterföhring site in the first quarter of 2009. Within the medium term, the Group will then be able to broadcast all its TV channels throughout Europe from two centralized playout centers in Munich and London (Chiswick).

By developing a leading European digital platform and investing several million euros, ProSiebenSat.1 Group implements one of its three strategic objectives. The aim is to achieve entirely tapeless operation, initially in the broadcasting process alone, but at all TV stations as well within the medium term. The new infrastructure ensures the Groups technological competitiveness by enabling it to exploit all content early, in parallel, on all media. Efficient media management with standardized processes will reduce dependence on manual procedures.

In April of this year, ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion and IBM signed a ten-year IT outsourcing agreement that provides the basis for updating the media groups technical infrastructure.

“UKIMWI” is spelled out in capital letters on the ground of the dusty sports field in Bukoba, Tanzania. Ukimwi is Swahili, and it means AIDS. The children from the elementary school put the word together using lots of little wooden sticks.
