ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland achieved a full-year audience share of 28.9% in 2011
Unterföhring, January 1, 2012. The
TV stations of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland GmbH achieved a
combined audience share of 28.9% in 2011. SAT.1 captured an
audience share of 10.6%, ProSieben 11.7%, kabel eins 6.1% and sixx
0.5%. Thus, our family of TV stations increased their combined
audience share by 0.4 percentage points over the corresponding
prior-year figure (2010: combined audience share 28.5%). In the
second half of 2011, the TV station group increased its audience
share by 1.5 percentage points over the first half (first half
2011: audience share 28.0%; second half 2011: audience share 29.5%)
and by 0.9 percentage points over the second half of the preceding
year (second half 2010: audience share 28.6%). The TV stations'
quarter-on-quarter performance was just as positive, as their
combined audience share in the fourth quarter was 0.2 percentage
points higher than in the third quarter of 2011 (third quarter
2011: audience share 29.4%, fourth quarter 2011: audience share
29.6%) and 1.3 percentage points higher than in the year-ago
quarter (fourth quarter 2010: audience share
28.3%).
2011: A year of
milestones
In the final weeks of the year,
SAT.1 and ProSieben made TV and
ratings history with an exceptional format, "The Voice of Germany."
Attracting audience shares of up to 30.9% on ProSieben and 30.1% on
SAT.1, this show proves that TV viewers really do appreciate great
talent.
SAT.1 continued to offer
top-quality, highly relevant and family-friendly programming in
2011, including German fiction in TV series like "Danni Lowinski"
(audience share up to 18.2%) and "Der letzte Bulle" (audience share
up to 19.6%) and fiction events like "Marco W. - 247 Tage im
türkischen Gefängnis" (audience share 20.3%). Shows like "Mein Mann
kann" captured audience shares of up to 16.3%, blockbuster movies
for the entire family like "Wickie und die starken Männer" 30.3%,
"ran - UEFA Champions League" soccer matches up to 30.2% (second
half Schalke 04 vs. Manchester United), reality formats like
"Schwer verliebt" 15.8% and "SAT.1 Frühstücksfernsehen," Germany's
most successful breakfast TV show, up to
22.2%.
ProSieben put an exclamation mark
on its No. 1 position for best U.S. fiction in 2011. With its
blockbuster movies ("Hancock," audience share 28.2%), U.S. series
("Desperate Housewives," up to 17.6%; "V - Die Besucher", up to
19.7%) and U.S. sitcoms ("Two and a Half Men", up to 21.4%; "The
Big Bang Theory," up to 21.5%), ProSieben scored big in its area of
core competence, both in terms of quality and ratings. ProSieben
also underscored its claim to the best entertainment with
successful shows like "Schlag den Raab," "Germany's next Topmodel -
by Heidi Klum" and new shows like "17 Meter" with Joko Winterscheid
and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf. Other strong programs in 2011 included
"Stromberg," which generated audience shares of up to 16.4%, and
magazine shows like "Galileo" (up to 17.1%) and "red! Stars,
Lifestyle & More" (up to 23.1%). As the best-loved and most
desirable channel for young people, ProSieben increased its
full-year audience share in the 14-to-29-year-old demographic by
2.0 percentage points to reach an outstanding 20.2% in 2011, the
highest level in the TV station's
history.
Strong audience shares, strong programs at
kabel eins: The TV station reached a monthly
market share of 6.5% in three months of 2011 (August, September,
October 2011) Under the slogan "Relax x 6 + 1," kabel eins
generated top audience shares with its crystal-clear and reliable
offering of programs in all genres, including docutainment formats
like "Die strengsten Eltern der Welt" (audience shares up to 8.6%),
international TV series like "Navy CIS" (up to 15.2%) and
blockbuster movies like "Running Man" (13.5%). As an impressive
recognition of the TV station's strong program line-up, the jury of
the German Television Awards handed kabel eins its first-ever
German Television Award, for "Stellungswechsel - Job bekannt,
fremdes Land."
Our woman's channel sixx
accelerated from zero to a hundred in 2011, generating monthly
audience shares of up to 0.8% (October 2011, December 2011). The TV
station scored top audience shares with international TV series
like "Vampire Diaries" and "Grey's Anatomy" (audience shares up to
3.2% and 2.6%, respectively) and event programs like "Michael
Jackson's This is it" (audience share
1.5%).

But the show goes on! Thus, we are looking forward
to the many new highlights we will be broadcasting in 2012, such as
"Unser Star für Baku" and other Raab hits, Heidi Klum and her new
top models, "Popstars," the new John de Mol show "The Winner Is,"
new episodes of "Danni Lowinski" and "Der letzte Bulle," new German
TV series and movies on SAT.1 such as "Die Rache der Wanderhure"
and "Die Tore der Welt," the continuation of the Ken Follett hit
"Säulen der Erde" and last but not least, the finale of "The Voice
of Germany" in February and a new season in the
fall."
Here are the TV stations' audience shares for
December. In the month of Christmas, SAT.1 captured an audience
share of 10.7% (up 0.4 percentage points from its 10.3 audience
share in December 2010), ProSieben 11.7% (up 0.5 percentage points
from its 11.2% audience share in December 2010), kabel eins 5.8%
und sixx 0.8%.
