ProSiebenSat.1 TV German broadcasting station now also in HD via cable-28553

Unterföhring, 29 April 2010. Broadcasting stations SAT.1, ProSieben and kabel eins will be broadcasting in High Definition (HD) also via cable with immediate effect. To this end, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group has entered a contract for ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland GmbH with cable network provider Tele Columbus. This means that in addition to being broadcasted via satellite through the HD+ platform, programmes will still be broadcasted in standard definition.

With around 2.3 million households subscribed, the Tele Columbus Group is one of the most important cable network providers in Germany. The high capacity of broad-band cable makes it possible to provide a comprehensive offer of both analogue and digital TV channels and HDTV as well as new services such as internet and telephony. Tele Columbus is not, however, limiting itself to the mere transmission of signals via its 1,200 plus head ends, but is working intensively to expand its range of programmes and to develop additional services. The Tele Columbus Group was formed by the consolidation of individual regional cable network providers and has been an active partner in the housing industry for over 35 years.
