WE LOVE TO SUSTAIN: ProSiebenSat.1 Launches Sustainable Media Model as the First Partner of the Media4Planet Initiative

ProSiebenSat.1 stations offer attractive settings for advertising for sustainability campaigns; profits to support UNEP (UN Environment Programme) climate protection projects Media model is another component in ProSiebenSat.1’s extensive “We love to sustain” sustainability strategy Media4Planet: newly established initiative that bundles advertising space from media partners of all categories that support climate protection with preferential conditions First spots to be broadcast in Q4 2019
Munich, October 2, 2019. ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE is adding another important component to its work in line with its “We love to sustain” sustainability strategy: ProSiebenSat.1 is the first media partner to cooperate with Media4Planet (M4P), the first provider of sustainable advertising space in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. M4P bundles media partners’ advertising space at favorable conditions and sells it to sustainable enterprises, initiatives, and projects.  The idea behind the media model: A large part of the proceeds marketed by M4P for ProSiebenSat.1 will be used to support UN climate protection projects as well as other projects and NGOs. The partnership will also be presented at the UN’s global Climate Change Conference in Santiago de Chile in December. ProSiebenSat.1 will integrate this model as “media for sustainability.”  “We are proud to be contributing toward the UN’s climate change goals with this innovative media model. With our ‘Green Seven Week,’ we have been fostering environmental awareness via our TV formats for over ten years. In the future, we will use ‘media for sustainability’ to expand this work to our advertising domain,” says Conrad Albert, Deputy CEO and Group General Counsel at ProSiebenSat.1. The first spots are to be broadcast in the fourth quarter. The Group is pursuing a rigorous sustainability strategy based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which call on all enterprises to use their creativity and innovation to overcome the challenges of sustainable development. ProSiebenSat.1 has identified four key areas for action: society, diversity, environment, and governance & compliance. Against this backdrop, a Sustainability Board was set up and had its constituting meeting in May 2019. The new media model was launched at the first Green Seven Summit, a three-day sustainability conference on Sylt sponsored by ProSiebenSat.1. Under a theme that translates as “making waves for climate protection,” the event was held from September 29 to October 1, 2019, alongside the Mercedes-Benz Windsurf World Cup Sylt, and comprised an extensive framework program with panel discussions, keynote speeches, and workshops. The guests included Prof. Maja Göpel, Secretary General of the German Advisory Council on Global Change and Prof. Karen Helen Wiltshire, Vice-Director of Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. ProSiebenSat.1 has been using its reach for over ten years to shine a spotlight on environmental issues, especially for younger target groups, and to raise awareness of a sustainable lifestyle via the annually organized “Green Seven Week.” From October 14 to 20, the Group will host its “Green Seven Week” under the slogan “Save The Oceans.” The heart of “Green Seven 2019” is the 90-minute documentary Save The Oceans – Das Plastik-Experiment on ProSieben. In addition, the ProSieben magazine shows “taff” and “Galileo” will be showing reports on the topic of plastic waste for a whole week starting on October 14.
