In Australia, the last season of "Married at First Sight" hit like a bomb. With an average of 2.5 million viewers per episode – a whopping increase of 14.9% compared to the previous year – the twelfth round cemented the cult status of the series Down Under. Streaming views on the 9Now platform also exploded by 24.9%, to over 1 million per episode. A total of an incredible 15.1 million Australians cheered on the dome candidates.
In Germany, Samsung TV Plus is making its own FAST channel for "Married at First Sight". The dream couples from Australia, Great Britain, and Germany can be seen here around the clock.
With "Wedding at Second Sight", a spin-off of the successful format will soon be shown on Joyn. In the adaptation, twelve singles get engaged for three weeks according to the blind date principle before they walk down the aisle. There they decide whether they want to say "I do". With the 12th season, however, SAT.1 remains true to the original.
But it is not only in Germany that broadcasters are eagerly reaching for the "Married" franchise. In France, M6 is planning the spin-off "Nouveau rendez-vous avec l'amour". In Israel, Keshet Channel 12 is trying to bring failed marriages together a second time with "Last Resort". And in the US, the series has found a new home with Peacock from season 19 onwards.
Tim Gerhartz, Managing Director of our program distribution Seven. One Studios International, comments on the expansion: "The worldwide success of 'Married at First Sight' is unprecedented. The format has continuously developed from a successful show to a 'mega-brand' that manages to surprise audiences again and again through spin-offs, adaptations and renewals. We are pleased with this continuous development."
