Exclusive: German Free TV Group has acquired the free-to-air TV rights for Pregnant Man in Germany

Unterföhring, October 13, 2008. German Free TV Group (Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins, N24), a ProSiebenSat.1 company, has been awarded the exclusive free-to-air television rights for the documentary about Thomas Beatie, the worlds first pregnant man. In addition to the free-to-air TV rights, German Free TV Group has acquired them non-exclusive for German speaking territories.

Thomas Beatie (34) from Oregon, USA, was born a woman and had gender reassignment surgery 10 years ago but kept his female organs when he switched. He opted for a sperm donation and became the worlds first pregnant man of the world. The baby girl was born in July 2008, with TV channels all over the world waiting for the exceptional story of Thomas Beatie.

Executive producers are the well known and respected September Films from Great Britain. The documentary will be aired in Germany in fall 2008 exclusively on the channels of the German Free TV Group: Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins and N24.

Thomas Zwießler, Senior Vice President Factual, German Free-TV Group: The story of the pregnant man Thomas Beatie is one of the most emotional true stories of the decade. The documentary tells the whole story: from his childhood, the difficult time as a teenager to his gender reassignment, becoming the worlds first pregnant man, and finally the birth of his baby girl. This documentary will be the international factual TV highlight of this fall.
