maxdome and Samsung Combine Video-on-Demand and TV
Munich, April 13, 2011.
Effective immediately, Samsung's new generation of Internet-capable
Smart TVs offer access to maxdome, Germany's largest online video
store, allowing users to view movie and series highlights from
maxdome directly on their televisions. Currently, maxdome offers a
selection of over 35,000 titles. In addition to a wide range of
movies and series, customers can also browse through news specials,
television shows, documentaries, and music and children's shows.
Many titles are available in high resolution HD quality.
With a new Samsung Smart TV[1], users can
directly access maxdome's comprehensive media library. Samsung
Smart TVs use a maxdome app to connect directly to the online video
library via the Internet, either wirelessly via Wi-Fi or via a
network cable.
Owners of an Internet-capable model[2] from
a previous year can access maxdome as well. This requires the
latest firmware, which users can update directly via the
television's network connection or upload via a USB stick. The
maxdome application will be available after the firmware is
installed. In addition to televisions, plans are underway to
integrate maxdome access into Blu-ray players.
After registering for free on www.maxdome.de/samsung,
viewers can use their televisions to access different Top100 lists,
browse through titles, and play selections immediately. They can
alternatively use an integrated search feature to access the
complete portfolio of 35,000 video titles. A third option allows
users to find a video in the Webshop, add it to their personal wish
list, and then access titles on their wish list directly from their
television sets.
Both companies announced their cooperation at the IFA last
year.
