New Satellite Platform freenet TV: ProSiebenSat.1 and MEDIA BROADCAST Expand Partnership
ProSiebenSat.1 HD channel can be received via freenet TV’s new satellite offering straight from launch Agreement complements previous cooperation on DVB-T2 HD
Unterföhring, March 28th, 2018 – From today, TV viewers can also receive ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s HD channels by satellite via freenet TV. Straight from the launch of the new service, the channels ProSieben, SAT.1, kabel eins, sixx, SAT.1 Gold and ProSieben MAXX are therefore available in HD quality via an additional satellite platform. The new offering is based on a long-term distribution agreement between ProSiebenSat.1 and MEDIA BROADCAST – also covers the distribution of HbbTV via freenet TV’s receivers. The agreement means ProSiebenSat.1’s channels are now available via all of freenet TV’s distribution platforms: freenet TV can be used via both satellite and antenna, whatever the customers’ technical requirements. ProSiebenSat.1’s channels have been available from freenet TV via DVB-T2 since 2017. Christof Wahl, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer and COO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE: “ProSiebenSat.1 and MEDIA BROADCAST are long-standing partners. Our companies’ expanded cooperation gives our viewers more options to receive the channels of ProSiebenSat.1 in HD – now via both satellite and antenna. This means greater flexibility for our viewers’ use of TV.” Wolfgang Breuer, CEO of MEDIA BROADCAST GmbH, on the partnership: “Following freenet TV’s successful launch via DVB-T2 HD, we are delighted that households all over Germany can now also receive our package via satellite. This makes freenet TV the only HD offering that viewers can use via both satellite and antenna. ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s channels make a significant contribution to the attractiveness of the service.”
