November 2006 Audience Shares: ProSiebenSat.1 Group Earns 30.2 Percent
Munich, December 1, 2006. The ProSiebenSat.1 Groups audience share was above the 30 percent mark again in November. Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins, N24 and 9Live earned a combined 30.2 percent share (Oct. 2006: 30.9%; Nov. 2005: 30.9%). ProSieben maintained its growth trend from the past two months, and showed a substantial gain over the previous year. All figures are preliminary and weighted, and refer to the key demographic between the ages of 14 and 49.
ProSieben, at 12.9 percent, had its best November showing in five years. With a significant 1.5 percentage point gain against the previous year, the station showed the most vigorous growth of any German TV station (Oct. 2006: 13.2%; Nov. 2005: 11.4%). The station set a ratings record in feature films: At 34.1 percent, (T)Raumschiff Surprise Periode 1 was the most successful feature film of the month. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, at 30.5 percent, was also well above average. In its show category, ProSieben scored with the highest-rated POPSTARS run of all times (average 23.1%). The final judging of the New Angels the big POPSTARS finale drew 30.0 percent of the 14-to-49 demographic. On Schlag den Raab, Stefan Raab beat not just the contestants but his competitors. The Saturday evening show picked up another 2.8 percentage points against its September premiere, to reach a 29.5 percent share. TV Total was another top scorer, with shares as high as 32.8 percent.
Sat.1s share for November came to 10.8 percent (Oct. 2006: 10.9%; Nov. 2005: 12.9%). The station scored with high-quality in-house productions like Die Krähen. This Sat.1 production earned a strong share of 16.6 percent of the target audience. The U.S. series Navy CIS (up to 17.4%) and Criminal Minds (up to 16.9%) also maintained high levels in Sunday prime time. Films were another success, including the free TV premiere of 50 First Dates, at 17.1 percent. In comedy, the station scored with such shows as Sechserpack (up to 16.6%) and Pastewka (14.0%).
kabel eins earned a November share of 5.3 percent (Oct. 2006: 5.6%; Nov. 2005: 5.6%). The station drew high shares with the action movie Convoy (9.5 %) and popular series like Without a Trace (up to 9.3%) and Missing (up to 9.1%). The reportage series Mein neues Leben held steady on its successful course, with shares as high as 9.1 percent. The prime-access program Quiz-Taxi also put on the gas to earn up to 9.6 percent, the best figure since its debut.
N24 picked up 0.2 percentage points against the same period last year, to earn a 1.0 percent share (Oct. 2006: 1.0%; Nov. 2005: 0.8%). The station has maintained its position as Germanys leading news station, once again placing well ahead of its direct competitor n-tv by 0.4 percentage points (Nov. 2006: 0.6%; Oct. 2006: 0.6%; Nov. 2005: 0.5%).
Quiz station 9Live maintained a stable share of 0.2 percent of the 14-to-49 audience in November (Oct. 2006: 0.2%; Nov. 2005: 0.2%).
RTL had a 15.2 percent share in November, giving up 1.5 percentage points against the previous year (Oct. 2006: 15.5%; Nov. 2005: 16.7%). Vox earned 7.9 percent (Oct. 2006: 7.6%; Nov. 2005: 6.8%). Super RTLs share for the month was 2.7 percent (Oct. 2006: 2.6% Nov. 2005: 2.8%), n-tv earned 0.6 percent (Oct. 2006: 0.6%; Nov. 2005: 0.5%), and RTL 2 came to 6.2 percent (Oct. 2006: 6.0 percent; Nov. 2005: 6.2 percent).
