Patrick Tillieux to leave ProSiebenSat.1 Group
Munich, April 24, 2009. Patrick Tillieux, 51, COO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, will be leaving the company on June 30, 2009, to pursue other interests. This was agreed upon by the relevant committee of the Supervisory Board and the COO. Patrick Tillieux had been a member of the Executive Board at ProSiebenSat.1 since mid-2007 and was in charge of Group Operations, International Free TV, International Pay TV, Radio and Print. His responsibilities will be taken over by Thomas Ebeling, CEO.
Götz Mäuser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG: Patrick Tillieux has provided entrepreneurial passion and profound media experience to SBS and ProSiebenSat.1 for the past eight years. We want to thank Patrick especially for his contribution in the integration process of the two companies. We regret his decision to leave ProSiebenSat.1 and wish him all the best in his future career.
Patrick Tillieux, COO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG: Eight years of building a great media company have been a tremendous time for me. I had the pleasure and the privilege of leading great teams in each of our European territories. Together with them I look back at the successful turn-around of our Belgian and Danish operations, the formidable development of our Dutch television and print operations, the creation and launch of several secondary channels and in particular our female channels, the negotiation of large and solid distribution for our Scandinavian channels, the successful disposal of our Nordic pay-TV C More and finally the combination of SBS Broadcasting with ProSiebenSat.1. Now, after two years of good progress with the integration of SBS into ProSiebenSat.1, is the right time for me to move on. I believe ProSiebenSat.1 carries all the elements necessary for successful further development.
Patrick Tillieux has a master of civil engineering (1980) and master of industrial administration (1981) both from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. He started his career in 1981 at Bouygues SA in France, the international building and services group and controlling shareholder of French broadcaster TF1, where he held various junior management positions, mainly in the USA. In 1988 he joined TF1 as director of business development, where he participated actively at the launch and development of pan-European broadcaster Eurosport. In 1995 he joined Holland Media Group (now RTL Netherlands) first as CFO and subsequently as Managing Director. After having led pay-TV operations Canal+ Benelux from mid 1998 onwards, he joined the SBS Group in mid 2001 as CEO of its Belgian television operations. He expanded his responsibilities in January 2005 by becoming CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of SBS Broadcasting BV, the Dutch television and print operations of SBS. From March 2006 he became COO of the entire SBS Group and its acting CEO. After the acquisition of SBS Broadcasting Europe BV by ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG in July 2007, he joined the Executive Board of ProSiebenSat.1 as COO.
