ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG and Producer Christian Popp establish Joint Production Company

Munich, June 9, 2005. ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG and producer Christian Popp (aged 38) have agreed to establish a joint production company. The new company, entitled Producers At Work, will function in the market both as a service provider for the ProSiebenSat.1-Group, and as an independent production company. Starting on October 1, 2005 the managing director of the new company will be Christian Popp.

Guillaume de Posch, chairman of the Executive Board at ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, says: "The success of our Telenovela 'That's life' on Sat.1 shows just how important daily TV fiction is for a television broadcaster. That's why we decided to strengthen this particular expertise within the Group."

Dr. Roger Schawinski, managing director at Sat.1, headed the negotiations for the new company: "I met Christian Popp during the close cooperation on 'Verliebt in Berlin' and liked the way he does things. I consider him one of the best producers in the fiction sector, and I am delighted that he plans to continue working together with the ProSiebenSat.1-Group."

Christian Popp is currently a producer at Grundy Ufa, assuming overall responsibility for content of daily and weekly programs. He is in charge of developing such shows as telenovelas and furthering other programs. After studying German language and literature, theater, and art history, Popp took charge of the Munich office of the production company MME from 1993 to 1996. He then worked for two years as a producer at Ufa Film- und Fernsehproduktions-GmbH before switching to Nostro Film GmbH as executive producer in 1998. Popp was responsible for productions as "Verbotene Liebe", "Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten", "Hinter Gittern", "Bianca - Wege zum Glück", the follow-up project "That's life", and the new ARD telenovela. As a result, he commands the greatest expertise in telenovela production on the German market.

Popp is elated: "The ProSiebenSat.1-Group is committed to TV and good fiction in a big way. I found my ideal partner for a joint production company in ProSiebenSat.1. Producers At Work will function independently on the market and will hopefully turn out a lot of successful shows. I look forward to the new challenge and want to thank my colleagues at Grundy Ufa for their creative and pleasant cooperation over the past few years."

"When children do sports, they speak one language."
“UKIMWI” is spelled out in capital letters on the ground of the dusty sports field in Bukoba, Tanzania. Ukimwi is Swahili, and it means AIDS. The children from the elementary school put the word together using lots of little wooden sticks.
