ProSiebenSat.1 Secures Future Cinema Productions from Studiocanal and Lionsgate

Munich, July 7, 2014. The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has extended its existing contract with Studiocanal Germany. This new agreement secures the company exclusive free TV rights to attractive cinema productions from the US film studio Lionsgate for the production period between 2015 and 2017. Future highlights include filming of the first part of the successful young adult trilogy "Chaos Walking" and the adaptation of the best-selling novel "The Glass Castle" starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence. These rights apply to the Group's free TV stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The agreement also includes second pay TV and video-on-demand licenses. Rüdiger Böss, Executive Vice President Group Programming Acquisitions, ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG: "By extending the agreement, we will continue to offer our viewers movies from the US's best independent studio. In order to ensure that our stations remain attractive and successful, it is very important to have long-standing collaborations that tie us to successful partners like Studiocanal and Lionsgate." Rodolphe Buet, CEO Studiocanal Germany: "For a long time, we have shared ProSiebenSat.1's passion for movies and the desire to share this passion with cinema-goers and viewers. We worked together here in Germany to make 'The Hunger Games' one of the strongest franchises ever and we are now expanding our collaboration with Lionsgate hits such as 'Mortdecai' and 'Power Rangers'. We couldn't wish for a better partner." The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has been collaborating successfully with Studiocanal Germany for many years and has secured licensing rights to movies such as the successful four-part US blockbuster "The Hunger Games" via the European studio. Moreover, ProSiebenSat.1 has long-term contracts with almost all major Hollywood studios as well as numerous important production and film companies. In addition to Studiocanal Germany, its partners include CBS, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony Pictures International, Twentieth Century Fox, Constantin Film and Tobis Film among others.

STUDIOCANAL is Europe's leading film studio. It is active in the production, purchasing and distribution of international movies in Germany, France and the UK. Just recently, STUDIOCANAL brought the first two films in the "Hunger Games" series and the cinema hits "Non-Stop" and "RoboCop" to the big screen. The current line-up includes the fantasy thriller "The Giver" and the family movies "Paddington" and "Shaun the Sheep". "Mockingjay Part 1", the third part of the "Hunger Games" series, is released on 20 November. Contact: Susanne Brieu
