Jürgen Hörner, CEO of TV Deutschland GmbH: "In a year dominated by major sports events, our family of German TV stations repeatedly aired ratings hits with exciting and surprising programs in all genres. I am especially pleased by the fact that the quality of our programs is receiving due recognition, as reflected by the numerous awards given to the programs and stars of our TV stations, including best of all, four awards at the German TV Awards. That spurs us on to continue offering extraordinarily good TV in 2013, with popular, high-quality programs on all our media. Viewers can already look forward to highlights such as 'The Voice Kids,' the award-winning series 'Homeland,' the new soap opera 'Patchwork Family' and 'Das große Promiboxen' on SAT.1, as well as Stefan Raab events such as 'Absolute Mehrheit' and 'Die große TV Total Prunksitzung,' Heidi Klum and her new top models on ProSieben, thrilling European League matches on kabel eins, and the series 'Pan Am' and the second season of 'Sweet & Easy - Enie backt' on our TV station sixx."

Highlights of 2012:

Two channels full of great music: Both the final episodes of the first season and the second season episodes of the music show "The Voice of Germany," which air jointly on SAT.1 and ProSieben, fascinated millions of viewers in 2012. The show achieved an audience share of up to 30.2 percent. The second season, which achieved an average audience share of 23.4 percent in the demographic of 14-to-49 year-olds and a reach of 4.07 million among all viewers, proved to be the most successful talent show in the second half of 2012. The second season of the "The Voice of Germany" was accompanied by tremendous growth of the successful interactive online application "ProSieben Connect," with which viewers can interact with the ongoing TV program either on a computer, tablet or mobile device, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This social-TV application registered about 30 percent more visits in the second season than in the first. In 2012, SAT.1 lived up to its reputation for major TV events, including the successful continuation of the "Wanderhuren" trilogy (26.9 percent audience share for "Die Rache der Wanderhure"), for the outstanding drama "Und weg bist du" (14.8 percent audience share) and for the film version of the Ken Follett bestseller "Die Tore der Welt" (up to 15.2 percent audience share). Furthermore, premiere broadcasts of blockbuster movies like "Alice im Wunderland" (22.0 percent audience share) and "Zweiohrküken" (25.3 percent audience share) were a big hit with viewers. The Champions League finale on SAT.1, which earned a sensational audience share of 59.1 percent, including the penalty kicks, proved to be the highest-rated soccer broadcast of all time. And after a quarter century on the air, the morning show "Frühstücksfernsehen" featuring news and entertainment achieved market shares of up to 21.6 percent in 2012.

Market leader in 2012: ProSieben is the most-watched German TV channel for young viewers. With an audience share von 19.9 percent in 2012, ProSieben was the undisputed market leader among viewers aged 14 to 29. In the advertising-relevant demographic, ProSieben was the No. 2 TV station in Germany, with an audience share of 11.3 percent; and it narrowed the gap with the market leader by a solid 1.9 percentage points. The best blockbusters, the best sitcoms, the best shows: ProSieben has it all! For example, 37.1 percent of 14- to-49-year-olds watched the free-TV premiere of Roland Emmerich's apocalypse blockbuster "2012," making it the best movie in 2012. The TV series "Two And A Half Men" starring Ashton Kutcher garnered an audience share of 32.5 percent, making it the most successful new series in 2012. And Stefan Raab put forth the best political talk show of the year, as "Absolute Mehrheit - Meinung muss sich wieder lohnen" attracted more viewers than all other talk shows in the broadcast week.

The ball is rolling at kabel eins: Attracting an average audience share of 8.7 percent, the European League was broadcast on kabel eins for the 25th year in 2012, to the delight of soccer fans. In the TV series category, "Navy CIS" aired not only on Saturday evenings, when it achieved peak audience shares of up to 10.8 percent, but also afternoons, since October (peak audience shares of up to 9.4 percent). Afternoon and early evening viewership was boosted by series like "Ghost Whisperer" (up to 10.3 percent audience share) and in-house productions like "Abenteuer Leben - täglich neu entdecken" (up to 8.9 percent audience share) and "Achtung Kontrolle - Die Topstories der Ordnungshüter" (up to 7.5 percent audience share). The most-watched movie of the year was "Terminator 2," bringing in a 14.5 percent audience share.

sixx doubled its audience share! The sensational 1.0 percent audience share in 2012 reflected a 100 percent increase from the previous year (annual audience share in 2011: 0.5 percent). With great movies like "Zweiohrküken" (3.2 percent audience share), "27 Dresses" (2.9 percent audience share), "Sex and the City 2" (2.1 percent), the TV series "Vampire Diaries" (up to 3.1 percent audience share) and the baking show "Sweet & Easy - Enie backt" (up to 2.8 percent audience share) were among the ratings hits on sixx that attracted audience shares well above the TV station's average.
