sixx even sharper! Womens channel to air in HD, starting December 1

Unterföhring, November 19, 2010. All good things come in fours; and sixx will be even sharper. Starting December 1, 2010, the fourth TV station of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland GmbH will be broadcast in HD (High Definition) on sixx HD. SAT.1, ProSieben and kabel eins have been available in HD already since January 31. The program on sixx HD is completely identical to sixxs SD (Standard Definition) program; it will be broadcast via satellite by SES ASTRAs Service HD+.

Compared to conventional SDTV (Standard-Definition Television), HDTV (High-Definition Television) displays the transmitted picture in a much higher optical resolution. With HDTV, TV images are much more detailed than before.

Highlight series like Life unexpected, the second season of 90210 and popular series like Desperate Housewives and Greys Anatomy will be broadcast for the first time in brilliant quality on sixx HD, the extra-sharp womens channel.
Andreas Bartl, TV Managing Director of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG: Our offering is now complete. On December 1, sixx will be the last TV station of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland GmbH to make the important step to the broadcast standard of the future, marking a technical and quality milestone for our viewers.
In order to receive HD channels, viewers need an HD-ready or full-HD TV and an HDTV receiver. HD+ can be received either with an HD+ receiver, a CI Plus module or a CI module for HD+. To receive HD+, viewers also need an HD+ card, which is pre-installed in purchased TVs or modules; otherwise, viewers can simply purchase a new HD+ card at the store.

"When children do sports, they speak one language."
“UKIMWI” is spelled out in capital letters on the ground of the dusty sports field in Bukoba, Tanzania. Ukimwi is Swahili, and it means AIDS. The children from the elementary school put the word together using lots of little wooden sticks.
