sixx: The New Station on German TV Gets a Name

Unterföhring, February 10, 2010. Exciting. Confident. Lively. Ambitious. The ProSiebenSat.1 Groups new TV station will go on the air this spring, with a new name: sixx. Said station head Katja Hofem-Best: First of all, sixx is a unique name that doesnt already exist in the very diverse world of digital TV. Recognition is very important to us. And then we also liked the similarity to the number six. Of course wed be just delighted if we could get programmed in the sixth slot on the remote control.

It was already definite in November of last year that ProSiebenSat.1 would be expanding its family of channels. Nearly 42 million women in Germany have been able to pick up any of more than 100 womens magazines at the newsstand but there was still no station that really catered to their interests and needs. That is about to change. Katja Hofem-Best: On sixx were going to show everything that is of interest to women. We have the best American series on our schedule, terrific movies, and true stories that get under your skin. Im especially happy to have Oprah Winfrey, the queen of the talk shows, on our station. And we also have the most innovative daily show from the USA, the Rachel Ray Show.

The new free TV station will be broadcast in digital format starting in May. At first sixx will have a technical reach of about 40 percent, but the figure is to be expanded to more than 60 percent in the medium term. In keeping with its technical reach, the station is targeting a share of about 2-5 percent of the key demographic of women between the ages of 14 and 49.

The innovative marketing concept will be carried out by SevenOne AdFactory.
