October audience shares: German Free TV stations above 30 percent / Substantial gain against last year, while competition loses ground
Unterföhring, November 2, 2008. The German Free TV group of stations, including Sat.1, ProSieben, kabel eins and N24, earned a 30.7 percent audience share in October, expanding its lead over the RTL Group (27.6 percent) from 2.8 percentage points in September to 3.1 percentage points. The German Free TV stations gained 1.5 percentage points against last years equivalent value, while the group of stations comprising RTL, Vox, Super RTL and n-tv gave up 1.2 percentage points. As a trend for 2008, the ProSiebenSat.1 Groups German stations are at 29.4 percent, while the RTL Groups audience share is 26.7 percent.
The station-by-station details: Sat.1 earned an 11.0 percent share in October, equivalent to a gain of 0.3 percentage points from the same period last year. ProSieben had the most substantial gain against last year, picking up 0.8 percentage points to reach 12.6 percent this October. The share at kabel eins was 5.8 percent, up 0.2 percentage points from October 2007 the same as for N24, whose share rose from 1.1 percent to 1.3 percent.
