Sat.1 and ProSieben to extend 16:9 services

Sat.1 HD and ProSieben HD suspended until 2010

Unterföhring, February 14, 2008. The channels Sat.1 and ProSieben will be extending their wide-screen 16:9 services. Since January 2008 both ProSiebenSat.1 flagship channels have progressively been broadcasting their content in this format. More than three million households in Germany already equipped with the necessary flat screens will be able to use the technological possibilities of their TV sets to the full. With this strategic decision for 16:9, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group is focusing on technological developments most relevant to its viewers.

For this reason, from February 16, the Group will terminate its HDTV activities for the time being. Distribution of the two Free TV services Sat.1 HD and ProSieben HD via satellite, cable and DSL will be temporarily suspended from February 16 until 2010. From 2010, the Group will have at its disposal a third digital satellite transponder with capacities for HD programs. Market penetration of HDTV services in Germany has not met expectations since the start of the two high-definition channels in October 2005. Currently, not more than 150,000 households can receive Sat.1 and ProSieben in high-definition quality.

Weather targeting makes TV-advertising even more relevant
Seven. One Media and wetter.com are working together on a targeting option: on TV, precisely those products are advertised that match the weather situation. This opens up additional revenue potential in the advertising market.
