SevenOne International: Ukraine and Russia pick up Remake Rights for Hit Series “Danni Lowinski”

Munich, April 25, 2012. Ukrainian production company Star Media Film has picked up the remake rights for Germany's award-winning dramedy "Danni Lowinski". "Masha V Zakone" which translates to "Masha in Law" will air on Ukrainian commercial channel STB as well as Russian broadcaster Domashny. "Masha V Zakone" will start production in May 2012. Daria Lavrova, producer at Star Media says: "This series interesting for several reasons: the heroine is a graphic example of a modern young lady who doesn't fear difficulties or challenges and changes her life radically, starting from scratch and eventually finds her fortune. The series is full of social significance and helps average people understand that one can achieve their goals despite everything. We think this to be very important and are sure the viewers will appreciate it as well.  Axel Böhm Regional Sales Director CEE, Italy and Spain says: "'Danni Lowinski' and its outstanding mix of comical and dramatic storytelling were a hit from the get go. The character is truly universal and therefore perfect for a remake - the first adaptation in Belgium scored record ratings. I am sure 'Masha' will charm Ukrainian and Russian viewers just as much." About Danni Lowinski
Thoroughly funny and highly entertaining, "Danni Lowinski" (produced by Markus Brunnemann/Phoenix Film and created by Marc Terjung) depicts the tumultuous life of trained hairdresser Danni, who decided some time ago that she could do more than just comb hair, so she began studying law. After passing her exams she is enthusiastic about the idea of finally practicing her profession. But when her job interview with prestigious lawyer Oliver turns into a disaster and all of her other applications are rejected as well, her dreams of a better life are shattered. But Danni refuses to go back to hairdressing. She wants more out of life - and decides to offer legal advice to the less fortunate in a quite unusual setting. In Germany the third season of "Danni Lowinski" is runs its third season on SAT.1, with a forth already in commission. In March 2012 the Belgian remake scored record breaking ratings, being the biggest hit for public broadcaster vtm in five years. A second season is already commissioned. "Danni Lowinski" also won several awards including the German Television Award. About Star Media

"When children do sports, they speak one language."
“UKIMWI” is spelled out in capital letters on the ground of the dusty sports field in Bukoba, Tanzania. Ukimwi is Swahili, and it means AIDS. The children from the elementary school put the word together using lots of little wooden sticks.
